Koshary Abou Tarek is a prominent restaurant chain in Egypt, renowned for its signature dish, Koshary. The establishment's founder, Abou Tarek, began selling Koshary from a humble street cart in Cairo during the 1950s.As inexperienced Americans, we walked in a little intimidated by the hustle and bustle, but were greeted by some kind of “host” who sat us when a table opened up. And the food and show they put on was fantastic! Don’t miss it. Dinner for four, with two rice puddings for dessert and sodas was $8 total.During my recent trip to Cairo, I made it a point to visit Abu Tarek after hearing so many great things—and I’m so glad I did.
